Recital 2009

Recital News

The Performance starts at 2:30, with doors to the auditorium opening at 2:00. Remember to be polite to other audience members and families by:

  • Saving no more than 3 additional seats
  • Turn off all cell phones and any noise-producing devices (or place on vibrate mode only)
  • Absolutely NO flash photography. It is dangerous and distracting to the dancers and audience members.
  • No videotaping of the performance; this includes cell phone recording devices.
  • Exit from the rear doors of the auditorium only.
  • Please stay seated during the performance; all dancers have been busy all year in preparation for this opportunity.
  • Please be courteous to all dancers and their families.

Recital Check-In
Golden Tickets will NOT be needed at recital. If your child will not have a parent or guardian in the building during the recital, please be sure to leave emergency contact information at check-in. All Parent Volunteers need to arrive at Atlee High School between 1:15 and 1:25. All Full Hour classes check in 1:30 to 1:45. Creative Movement and Combo classes check in 1:45-2:00"

Parent volunteers
Your timely arrival and assistance is essential to the success of recital. With all instructors busy with the technical aspects of recital (sound, lighting, etc.) or working with the dancers on stage, they are not available to sit with classes backstage. With close to 250 dancers, most under the age of 10, all classes need adult supervision. If your child’s class still does not have a volunteer, please consider signing up; dancers will not be permitted backstage without a volunteer. Keep in mind you will have one of the best seats in the house -- a view from the wings -- so you will see your child’s performance.

While Waiting - Activities & Snacks
Activities: As much as possible, we have tried to minimize time backstage at rehearsal and recital. However, dancers will need something to do while at Atlee High School. It is not the responsibility of the class parent volunteers to provide activities, so please pack a coloring book, paper, crayons -- some quiet activity your child likes to do. No glue, markers, etc., as these can get on costumes or on floors/desks at Atlee. Some parent volunteers do bring DVD players and movies to watch, but we cannot guarantee availability of an electrical outlet for your use. Some dancers will be in classrooms. DO NOT disturb anything in these classes; students are still in school and we are guests at the facility. No writing on whiteboards/chalkboards, going through teachers’ desks, etc. Additionally, the televisions and VCRs at Atlee are NOT for our use.

Snacks: Limit snacks brought to Atlee. Absolutely no peanut products are allowed; please be considerate of children with allergies. Water and oyster crackers are preferred; we do not want any snacks or drinks that will stain or stick to costumes. Also, prior to dismissal, all classes are responsible for having a clean area, so beware of ground-in cheese sticks and popcorn messes.

Hair and Make-Up
Hair: For rehearsal and recital, be sure that all bangs are pulled back.

Make-Up: At Magical Movement, we do not request full stage make-up on children for recital. The creative and combination classes can wear light pink blush and lip gloss, but no heavy reds or browns. Students in full hour ballet, jazz, tap, or hip hop can wear mascara, pink blush, and lip gloss; your instructor will let you know if you have any special make-up guidelines.

Dismissal

All dancers will be dismissed after the conclusion of the Finale, with the youngest classes dismissed first. Please exit through the back doors of the auditorium. As you exit the auditorium, all of Ms. LeAnn's classes will be dismissed to the RIGHT side of the stage (where check-in was); all other classes will be dismissed to the LEFT of the auditorium.
